My sister recently signed up to sell on Poshmark and she asked me for some advice on how to get started. Of course I had plenty to give! She was a tad overwhelmed with all the info I was listing off though (I was at first too!), so I made her a helpful checklist-a new Posher checklist!
I decided to write this short blog to share the advice I gave my sister with anyone who is starting their own reseller journey!
The checklist is pictured below. For a detailed explanation of each step, keep reading!

Upload a profile picture.
If you are serious about selling on Poshmark you want to have a professional online presence. You want to look legitimate and set apart from the occasional seller or “shopper only” accounts. A profile picture helps to achieve this look.
Opt out of posting a photo of your cat (unless said cat is a part of your “brand”) or a poorly lit selfie. Upload a well lit photo that shows your face or a well designed logo.

List ten items.
An account with one item won’t get much traffic and can come across as illegitimate. Reach more buyers, and show that you are a serious seller, by posting at least 10 items your first day.
One of the criteria to be a Posh Ambassador is having at least 50 active listings in your closet. Don’t stress yourself trying to reach this right away. I made several sells with 5 items listed, but I started making MORE when I added the full 10. It also looks better to have as many listings as possible.
Pro Tip: Aim to list one new item a day. It makes the algorithm happy. This means more traffic to your closet and more sales. And always start with items you already own!
Follow new users and Posh Ambassadors.
The app is designed to be social. The more people you follow the more will follow you back, and that means more shares + more eyes on your closet!
Share all your listings 3x a day.
Speaking of shares… Make sure to share every listing in your closet at least 3 times a day. This will ensure you are one of the first listings seen when searched.
Share other users listings.
Don’t forget to share other people’s listings as well! Remember social behavior is rewarded on this app. Sharing is caring!
To be a Posh Ambassador you have to share your listings a minimum of 5,000 times and other people’s listing a minimum of 5,000 times. This tells us that sharing your own items and sharing other listings is equally important.
But always put YOUR closet’s listings first!
Order free shipping supplies.
Head to your local post office and grab some free shipping boxes for your first few sales. Then head to USPS.com to order free padded envelopes and boxes. (They even have shoe boxes!)
I also like to order the military care kit because it includes tape and boxes.
Remember, you can use all USPS boxes and envelopes EXCEPT Express!

Pro tip: Use the free tape from the USPS to build and close boxes. Use your clear tape to secure labels.
If your post office gives you a difficult time using the flat rate boxes, you can show them this letter or request your own from Poshmark Support!

Link social media accounts.
Poshmark says that poshers with linked social media accounts make around 23-30% more sales.
I believe this is for two reasons:
- It makes you seem more legitimate (and hopefully you are)! People see that you aren’t trying to hide anything and that you are a real person, not a computer.
- It increases the eyes on your closet and adds more options for sharing. I post a highlight of certain items on my Instagram on Saturday and share every listing to Pinterest.
Pro Tip: Add a link to your closet in the bio of your social media accounts to make shopping easy for buyers who found you through that app.

Let me know if this checklist is helpful! And Happy Poshing!
