I challenged myself to try a new simple hairstyle every day last week! If you’ve ever watched me attempt to follow a hair tutorial you know it never goes as planned…ever! Partially because of my hair texture more so than my lack of skills (but that plays a part as well!) if we’re being honest.
The goal behind this personal challenge was to develop my hair skills beyond my natural waves and a messy bun despite my type of hair! If you would like to do the same, I hope this blog encourages you to try!

Day 1
The Half-up Messy Bun

I got my inspo from Cassie Scroggins at CassieScroggins.com. It seemed simple enough, but if you watched my stories you know I still struggled!
I have fine hair that lacks volume but I made it work…and you can too!

Day 2
The Half-up Twist

Missy Sue inspired this look in one of her YouTube tutorials! My hair’s natural texture makes it look less “refined” I guess, but it still made me feel put together in minutes!
I also chose to leave my ends in a small bun because my pony was not us “full” as hers.
Day 3
The Flower Bun

This style inspiration actually came in the form of a TikTok. It was so simple looking I had to try. And guess what, it was!
I’ve linked the tutorial below!
Day 4
The French Twist

This one I had to tweak a little bit to make sure the hair in front framed my face how I like, but it still turned out relatively well!
The lesson learned from this hairstyle is that we all can’t do exactly like the YouTubers, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try!
Day 5
The Rope Braid

Probably the most difficult look of the week but also my favorite! I clearly don’t have as much hair as the babe in the tutorial but it still turned out cute.
Below are some of the products I’ve been using lately! I’ve loved this brand since high school and it hasn’t let me down since. I used the dry shampoo to add volume and the texturing spray to help my hair “hold” the look.

Let me know your favorite style in the comments! And also drop any inspiration you’d like to see me attempt.
