It’s hard to be a one income family, especially when you’re just starting out. I’m blessed to have a husband that can provide for our little family of three, but I still like to help as much as I’m able.
Before Jackson was born, I use to work two jobs (three at on point) while attending school full-time. It’s safe to say that I was use to contributing to my family’s income. That’s not to say raising and caring for a tiny human, and maintaining a household full-time, isn’t contributing (it definitely is) but a little extra cash flow is always a good thing! RIGHT?!
Earning from home can be difficult though, there aren’t many options available. However, over the last year I’ve managed to find several ways to earn money at home (or at least on my own terms)!
Keep reading to see how you can earn a little extra income while at home!
I read an article recently about a women who paid for a large portion of her families Disney World vacation with gift cards she redeemed on Swagbucks.com!
If you haven’t heard of SwagBucks, it’s a site that rewards you with points for taking surveys, shopping at certain places, or for watching sponsored videos. You then redeem these points for gift cards to your favorite stores like Starbucks, Target, Wal-Mart, or for cash through Paypal!
1 Swagbuck = 1 cent
This may not sound like a lot but it really adds up! I have made quite a bit taking surveys and redeeming offers just while I watch television!

Sell your unused clothes, accessories, or household decor online
It’s not a secret I love reselling online. It’s really helped me supplement Travis’ income while I’m home with Jackson full-time!
I know people who have quit their full-time jobs to resell on sites like Poshmark and eBay. Some friends simply resell to pay their student loan payment every month!
It’s really simple, find the gently used items you don’t want or use anymore and list them on Poshmark, Mecari, eBay, or countless other reselling apps!
For more information and tips, check out my other blogs on reselling!

Clean a house or two.
So, this isn’t a job for everyone. It takes a humble, hard working individual to play house keeper for another family. But it PAYS! My average house takes about 1.5 hours to clean and I earn between $80-$120! Plus, I have met some very kind people that I genuinely enjoy seeing every other week(and deep cleaning can burn up to 300 calories- that’s cardio for the day!)
If you think you can handle this side gig check out the Handy app. It’s where I got started. It’s safe and easy to manage. I eventually moved off the app and gained more clients simply by referrals. I was earning over 1k a month working only 3 hours or less a week!
This may not be an “at home gig” but the time it takes to earn is minimal. Align your cleaning schedule with visits from grandparents and you’ll be set!
You need a babysitter every so often, so you know other parents do too. Post on Facebook that you are willing to sit for friends (and friends of friends if you’re comfortable doing so) and family at a reasonable rate (you know your worth, so set the price at that!). If you’re already home, why not add one more tiny human!?
Don’t just stop with human babies! Pet parents need help too. If you are fond of animals, post that you can be there for anyone who needs your services: walking, bathing, boarding, and anything else you can think of! If you live in a city where sprawling backyards are sparse you might try the Wag! or Rover app!
