Are you tired of hectic Monday mornings? Yeah, me too! Weekday chaos can’t always be avoided (as much as my type-A self tries). But there are a few things you can do to make the start of the week easier!
Now, I know every situation and every person is different. If you try these simple habits and they don’t help, try taking a moment to reflect on your own routine and see what could be changed!
Clean the coffee pot
Nothing is more frustrating than not having what you need to drink your yumyum juice in the morning. Make sure to Empty the old grounds, refill the sugar dispenser and make sure your favorite coffee mug is clean and ready too. Before calling it a night, you could even set your pot to auto brew!
Clean out your purse and locate your keys
A chaotic purse is a huge anxiety trigger for me and extra anxiety is the last thing I need on a Monday. Take 5 minutes today to throw away receipts and trash, locate your keys and wallet, and make sure you have all your necessities (lip balm, hand sanitizer, masks, snacks, tampons, etc.).
Make a physical list off any appointments this week
You may have them on your phone, you might have them written in your planner, they may even be an alarm! But writing all your appointments down shows you exactly what’s happening this week all in the same space.
This also helps me to not over-schedule myself. One or two appointments on one day may not seem bad at first glance. but if you add up the whole week it can be overwhelming. If it seems like too much reschedule what you can!
Having the food you need will make mornings easier and reduce impulse eating out or unhealthy binging. I like having mine delivered, if you do too I suggest ordering them on Saturday to be delivered on Sunday. Time slots fill up quickly!
Check you gas level
Seriously, never wait until the morning. If it’s low go fill up today.
Do some Laundry
Clean underwear is a must and not having the top you need Monday morning is annoying. So do one load. Just one! Wash, fold, and put away this Sunday. You’ll thank yourself I promise.
Check your bank account, budget, and bills
Make note of any charges you don’t recognize and plan to contact your bank asap on Monday. Also, schedule any bills that are due this week!
Move your body
I love a Sunday walk! It makes me feel great and relaxes me. If the weather doesn’t allow for outdoor activity try yoga or a low-impact HIIT workout.
Toss the clutter
Go through every room and pick up trash. Go through small piles of papers and reorganize. Gather anything you want to donate to goodwill and put it in your trunk. (Dontforget about it though!)
Clean your bathroom counter
Why the bathroom counter you ask? For me, my bathroom counter is my vanity. It’s where all my makeup, skincare, and hair supplies are stored! Getting ready with a cluttered or dirty counter only adds to my anxiety. So I like to start the week fresh with a clean space. If you have a vanity or desk for getting ready, tidy that area up instead.
Finally check the weather
Knowing if it will be raining or super hot always makes it easier to plan your outfits accordingly.
